Mr. Herren's Robotics class has been studying engineering design. Today, the students built robots using instructions. Soon, they will be designing their own robots and building them without instructions.

Hooray for Friday! Because it's library day! Every Friday Ms. Sturghill does story time. Today's story was about birthdays and the feelings brought on by special days. Students explored why and how birthdays are celebrated along with making wise choices as we celebrate one another as well as ourselves. If you have a birthday this month, remember that you are special. Happy birthday!

Tryouts for MHS Quiz Bowl will be August 28th in Rm. AC-105 from 3:30 p.m. to 4:30 p.m. Questions will be much like trivia. Make sure you have a dependable, punctual ride home. See you there!

Last Friday, Ms. White's Biology and Honors Biology students built carbohydrate models (glucose) out of play-doh and toothpicks. Then, they worked together to combine their monosaccharides into disaccharides to demonstrate the process of dehydration synthesis.








Come check out the volleyball team jamboree on Thursday, August 22nd from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at the Fidelity Bank Arena.


MHS will have ACT English tutoring Saturday, August 17, from 9:30 a.m. until 11:30 a.m. Students may sign up in room 124 of the English Department.


Students had a blast in Ms. Starkey's Biology class learning how proteins fold by making protein keychains using beads to represent amino acids and braiding and twisting to show primary, secondary, and tertiary protein structures.

MHS librarian, Ms. Sturghill, has been diligently working to make sure that every student is familiar with the school library and what it has to offer.

Marion High School Lady Patriots softball team will have tryouts Thursday, August 8, at 3:45 p.m. Make sure you bring the necessary equipment. Also, make sure you have documentation of a recent physical. Good luck!!


Madeline Duncan, a senior at Marion High School, is a member of the 99th Composite Squadron in the US Air Force Auxiliary Civil Air Patrol. On August 14, she advanced and earned her sixth set of stripes and became a Cadet Technical Sergeant. Part of her training included an advanced dual flight on June 3, when she flew a Cessna 182T Skylane aircraft to and from Blytheville, AR.

Congratulation to 2023 MHS graduate Devin Wright on being selected as this year's winner of the Elizabeth Gill Scholarship. The $1,000 scholarship was made possible by the family of Ms. Gill, the Marion teacher who passed away in 2022. Devin will attend ASU-Midsouth this fall, majoring in nursing. He plans to eventually transfer to Arkansas State University in Jonesboro. He is pictured here with Dr. Glen Fenter, Marion superintendent.

Faculty and staff at the Marion School District kicked off the 2023-24 school year today (Thursday) with the district’s annual back-to-school kickoff and lunch. Held at the Marion Performing Arts Center, the event included updates on district activities, introduction of new staff members, door prizes, performances from the MHS marching band and choral ensemble, and more.
The first day of school for Marion students is Thursday, July 27.
