Ronald McNair was an MIT-trained physicist who specialized in laser research before joining NASA in the late 1970s. In February 1984, he became just the second African American to reach space, serving as a mission specialist aboard the Space Shuttle Challenger. On January 28, 1986, he was one of the seven crew members killed when the Challenger shockingly exploded 73 seconds after liftoff.

Due to construction delays caused by last week’s winter weather, and out of concern for the safety of our fans, we are making adjustments to our attendance policies for Patriot baseball games at John Robbins Field.
For this Saturday’s (2/27/21) benefit game against Pocahontas, no fans will be allowed inside the stadium. We apologize for this inconvenience.
The attendance policy will be revisited on a weekly basis as construction continues. As we begin allowing fans to attend, we will provide players the opportunity to purchase two tickets each. We hope to begin this process with seniors next week, followed by juniors, then sophomores, and finally freshmen as the weather allows the construction crews to progress.
Games will be broadcast at marionpatriots.com and on the Marion Patriots Mascot Media App.

When the Little Rock Nine walked into Central High School in 1957, the entire country was watching. What Americans didn’t see, though, was the woman who organized those Black students: Daisy Gatson Bates.

Greetings Patriots,
As a result of the continuing snow fall and dangerous road conditions Marion School District will remain virtual learning only for Thursday, February 18 and Friday, February 19.
Due to internet outages that have occurred in our area no new assignments will be made for these two days. These days will be used to make up any work that students have yet to complete.
We hope everyone is staying warm, safe, and even enjoying a little fun time playing in the snow.
