Marion High School has announced its plans for its Class of 2021 graduation ceremony, to be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, May 27, at Patriot Stadium.
Because of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, precautions will be taken to protect the health and safety of students and guests. All attendees will be required to wear face masks. Capacity will be limited, with each graduate receiving 6 tickets for family and friends. Guests will be asked to practice social distancing when selecting seats. Masks will be distributed to those who do not have them.

Marion Patriot Volleyball Tryouts will be held on the following dates:
Sr. High (current 9th-11th-grade girls) – Sunday, April 25, 2-4 p.m.
Jr. High (current 7th- & 8th-grade girls) – Monday-Wednesday, April 26-28, 2:30-4:30 p.m.
7th Grade (current 6th-grade girls) -- Monday-Wednesday, April 26-28, 9 a.m.-noon.

With the school and local clinics offering athletic physicals on the days listed below, we are cancelling Tuesday (4/20) & Thursday (4/22) night sessions we previously had scheduled for girls trying out for volleyball. You can still go to Vital Wellness the week of April 19-23, anytime between 8 a.m. and 5 pm, for a free physical. We ask that you please get there before 4:45 pm.

It's time for cheerleading tryouts! The MSD Cheer Tryout Clinic for the 2021-22 school year will be Monday, May 3 through Wednesday, May 5, from 3:30-5 p.m. each day. The tryout date will be Thursday, May 6. The tryout clinic is mandatory, and participants will not be eligible to try out if they are not in attendance. Prom will be May 1, from 8-10 p.m.. at the MJHS Cafeteria. (Masks must be worn at all times, except for photos.)
Senior Check-Out will be May 6, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at the MPAC lobby.
Graduation will be May 27 at 5 p.m. (The location and the number of guests have not been determined. More information will come soon.)

Join the Marion Patriot Color Guard! Any student interested in participating in the program during the 2021-22 school year should attend upcoming clinics on April 12, 13, 14, 19, 20, and 22. Clinics will be held in the Junior High Band Room after school from 2:30-5 p.m. Color Guard is open to all current students in grades 8-11. We are pleased to announce Marion High School senior, Kandace Kirkman, has been awarded the #License2Howl scholarship for the fall 2021 semester! Parents of face-to-face students: Please review the Aspire testing schedule. Notice your child(ren) will be taking one test a day during the week of April 5, 2021. Please keep this in mind when scheduling appointments during testing week.
Parents of virtual students: You will be receiving a text and/or email asking you to take a very important survey. Please look over the Aspire testing schedule to help you decide how to complete the survey. This survey will give you 3 options to choose from in order to get your child(ren) tested beginning April 5, 2021. Please fill out a survey for each child in grades 3-10. We ask that you complete the survey by Monday, March 29, 2021, at noon.

Students in grades 3-10 will take the ACT Aspire beginning Monday, April 5, 2021, and ending on Friday, April 9, 2021.
Parents of face-to-face students:

A survey and a copy of the testing schedule options will be available for you on Wednesday, March 17, 2021. The survey will provide 3 options for how virtual students will be tested. You are asked to choose the option that works best for your student(s). This survey will be emailed and sent through a text to parents of virtual students only. If a parent of a virtual child does not receive this email or text, please call and speak to Jonnett Gammill at 870-739-5100. The Marion School District will pivot to a virtual learning day on Friday, March 5, to accommodate a second Covid-19 vaccination clinic for faculty and staff.
The clinic will allow staff members who received their first shot on February 5 to receive their second dose. This is part of our continuing efforts to provide the safest possible learning environment for our students.
Because of the challenges associated with the large number of doses of the vaccine, securing the appropriate personnel to administer the vaccine, and other logistical issues connected with a vaccination event of this scale, the Marion School District again opted to pivot to virtual learning for the day.
Meals for Friday will be sent home with students on Thursday afternoon, along with the regular weekend meal distribution. Regular school schedules will resume on Monday, March 8.
This process is a vital step in protecting the health and safety of both our staff and students. As always, we thank you for your patience and support as we continue to navigate this ongoing health crisis and this unprecedented school year.
