HCGC-Pantry

Members of the Student Lighthouse Team at Herbert Carter Global Community Magnet spent part of the day Wednesday packaging items for the food pantry operated by the Marion School District.

The pantry, which operates in partnership with Bright Futures Marion, provides essential food items for families in need, as identified by each school in the district. Anyone interested in learning more can contact Julie Coveny at 870-739-5100 or jcoveny@msd3.org.

The food pantry is kept stocked via community donations, a grant from the Arkansas Food Bank, and most recently, a large donation from Swept Away Janitorial, the school district’s janitorial partner.

“Our food pantry has been a lifeline for many families in our community,” said Julie Coveny, Director of Federal Programs for the Marion School District. “It ensures that families have access to nutritious meals, even when times are tough. We are deeply grateful to everyone who supports the pantry, whether it’s donating items or helping pack things for distribution -- your support makes a real difference in the lives of our students and their families.”

HCGC’s Student Lighthouse Team is made up of students selected for their position through a vote of their peers. Consisting of students from every grade level, the group takes on leadership and community services projects at school and around the community.
