Jazz band

Fresh off an exceptional marching competition season, more than 20 members of the Marion Patriot Band earned positions in the ASBOA Region IV All-Region Jazz Band.

A total of 22 Marion students in grades 9-12 earned a position in the All-Region Band, while 7 students qualified for the Arkansas All-State Jazz Auditions, scheduled to be held in February.

“Our students have been working very hard on their All-Region audition materials while competing at a very high level with the marching band,” said Marion Director of Bands Monty Hill. “These students are to be commended for going the extra mile to improve their musical skill.”

Marion’s All-Region Jazz Band Qualifiers are as follows: (*denotes All-State Qualifier)

High School:

  • Jordan Jamison* -- Tenor saxophone, 1st band, 1st chair

  • Chris Abrams* -- Baritone saxophone, 1st band, 1st chair

  • Kayden Harris* -- Trumpet, 1st band, 2nd chair

  • Brennan Warren* -- Trumpet, 1st band, 3rd chair

  • Austin Canallero* -- Trumpet, 1st band, 4th chair

  • Aaron Salas – Trumpet, 2nd band, 2nd chair

  • Keivon Robinson* -- Trombone, 1st band, 1st chair

  • Kevin Gudino – Trombone, 2nd band, 1st chair

  • Arianna Hill – Trombone, 2nd band, 5th chair

  • Chauncey Washington* -- Bass guitar, 1st band, 1st chair

  • Brennan Thomas – Drum set, 2nd band, 2nd chair

  • Julian Romo – Tenor saxophone alternate

Junior High:

  • Jackson Abrams – Alto saxophone, 2nd chair

  • Braylon Lakes – Tenor saxophone, 1st chair

The Marion students will be featured as part of the All-Region Jazz Clinic to be held at 1 p.m. Saturday (Nov. 15) at the West Memphis Performing Arts Center. Admission is free.
