Two Schools. One Band. On Friday, Sept. 12, band students from Marion Junior High School and Marion High School will join forces to perform together.
“It’s the annual 8th grade and high school Mass Band performance here at Patriot Stadium. It will feature over 250 band students in grades 8 through 12 performing together for the very first time,” said Monty Hill, Marion School District director of bands.
Students have prepared for this performance for weeks, including practicing on the field together on Wednesday morning. Hill believes it will benefit the Marion Patriot Pride Marching Band in many ways.
“For our 8th graders, this is their very first marching band experience," said Hill. "We are very excited because A) they are very good musicians, and B) we would love for them to be part of our outstanding high school band program next year in the 9th grade. This gives them a very small taste of it."
Drum Major Jordan Jamison said, “They are going to be in the bandstand with us, and they are going to play all of our band tunes during the first half. Then, at halftime, they will perform with us after our show.”
Jamison and Hill are both looking forward to the special performance and experience.
“Every year it just keeps getting bigger and bigger, and we are very blessed,” said Hill.
“Come watch us. Come see what we can do,” urged Jamison.
The Mass Band will perform with the Marion Patriot Pride Marching Band during halftime of Friday night’s game against Conway at Patriot Stadium. We hope to see you there supporting our team and our band! Go Pats!
